-The term Homosexuality was invented in the 19th century, soon after, the term Heterosexuality was invented to contrast with the term Homosexuality. -The term Bisexual was invented in the 20th century for those who are not attracted to one sex, instead they are comfortable being in a relationship with someone regardless of gender. -Before the 1960's, there was no term for "non heterosexuality" because being homosexual was not nearly as common as it is now. The first term that was used was homosexual, then it changed to homophile, and then the term, gay, was created in the 1970's, and now people normally use the terms gay or homosexual. -During the time where the only term was "gay", some gay females got offended because they wanted to be included, but in a separate way, so the term "lesbian" was used to describe gay females. -The earliest organization to support the gay rights was formed in the 19th century.
